Back to Climbing Challenge

Project Rock will be organizing a Back to Climbing Challenge that will run from 1st – 31st July 2020. Registration for the challenge is FREE. Climbers can register at this page anytime before or during the duration of the challenge. There is more than RM10,000 worth of prizes to be won!

There will be two challenges, namely the MARATHON and POINT Challenges.

There will be both men and women categories in each challenge.

A climber may participate and accumulate points/mileage in both categories with each climb.

Prizes will be awarded for winners with the most points/mileage in each category.

Each climber is only entitled to one prize. If he/she qualifies for a prize in both challenges, the higher prize shall be awarded.

All challenges to be performed on the high wall (Top Rope + Lead) in Project Rock @ IKEA Batu Kawan.

MARATHON CHALLENGE:

Goal: To climb and accumulate the most distance on the high wall within the challenge period.

Each successful ascend will be awarded a distance of 11 meters. You are allowed to climb the same route multiple times.

Climbs must be the complete route according to the coloured holds set.

Resting on the rope or falling will render that climb incomplete and therefore no mileage will be added.

There will be no discrimination with the grades that you climb.

A staff must be present to verify the climb.

Climber with the most mileage accumulated at the end of the challenge will be the top prize winner, followed by the climber with the next highest mileage accumulated, and so on.

This challenge will be divided into both men and women categories.

POINT CHALLENGE:

Goal: To collect as many points as possible on the high wall within the challenge period.

Each successful ascend will be awarded points based on the difficulty level of a route. You are allowed to climb the same route multiple times.

Climbs must be according to the routes set. (Climb according to a single colour)

Resting on the rope or falling will consider that climb incomplete and therefore no points will be added.

Allocation of points will be as follows:

Top Rope – 0 bar = 1 point, 1 bar = 2 points, 2 bar = 3 points, 3 bar = 4.5 points, 4 bar = 5.5 points, 5 bar = 6.5 points, 6 bar = 7.5 points

Lead Climbing – lead 3 bar = 5.5 points, lead 4 bar = 6.5 points, lead 5 bar = 7 points, lead 6 bar = 8 points

A staff must be present to verify the climb.

Climber with the most points accumulated at the end of the challenge will be top prize winner, followed by the climber with the next highest points accumulated, and so on.
